Unfit Superintendent
(& Lack of Transparency cont'd)
There are so many reasons Sup. Cherniss is "not the right fit" to lead PYLUSD. He has a history of suing and being sued. He is working to control the School Board - who is elected to supervise HIM on behalf of voters. He tries to silence any opponents. However, our current board majority and their friends can't stop praising him, even extending his contract another year and providing a raise to his initial salary offer of $375,000/annually.
Found on reddit. Posted by a resident in his last district. His poor reputation is far reaching.
In a highly inappropriate and unprecedented move, he is actively working to push out Trustee Marilyn Anderson (Area 2) and help Leandra Blades and her allies win board seats so they can rubber stamp anything he brings to vote.
This spring, Cherniss used his work email to ask an assortment of his allies to spread misinformation about Trustee Anderson to "everyone they know" as she is up for re-election.
Stubbs is also in Cherniss' "inner circle."
He is aided by a new attorney for our district who does not mention expertise in public school laws. (He only lists charter schools on his webpage.)
He likes to send emails threatening the free speech of residents, calling out Board Members, and in sympathy with a family who sued our school district - and had their lawsuit THROWN OUT. Not surprisingly, his "inner circle" publishes his emails on Leandra Blades' Facebook and IG groups.
When a parent runs a public IG page for their kid, people are bound to look at it. We obscured the child's face.
Cherniss' 1st threat to sue our website. He didn't know the difference between "slander" and "libel." Wonder if he really consulted with his attorney? If so, time to get a new one.
In his apology, he makes a dig against Board Member Marilyn Anderson, who in the interest of transparency, mentioned the lawsuit was thrown out.
What a good soldier.
Cherniss is considered a "controversial figure in the field of educational administration." He has a history of using taxpayer money to make frivolous threats to sue members of the public, having made at least 3 threats to sue PYLUSD residents just since spring 2024. How much is this costing taxpayers in legal fees? Shouldn't the superintendent be focused on supporting our students instead of fighting his personal vendettas?
In yet another attempt to influence a public election, on Aug. 2, 2024, Sup. Cherniss had our district lawyer Huff write a "cease and desist" letter to LB's opponent saying it was illegal (it's not) for her to use a picture of the front of PYLUSD schools on her campaign materials. (Nellie happily published the superintendent's letter on social media, of course.)
Update dated 8/7/24 from Misty Janssen's campagin.
Letter from the state FPPC to Nellie dated 8/7/24 stating her complaint was without merit.
Even ChatGPT knows alllll about Cherniss' checkered legal history...
"These lawsuits reflect RECURRING legal and administrative challenges during Cherniss' career...involving allegations ranging from retaliation and free speech violations to broader civil rights issues.
"Cherniss' leadership style...reports of STRAINED RELATIONSHIPS with board members and staff."
